Monday-Saturday admittance will be for YMCA members only. Given the limited number of pools open this summer, Sundays will be “Community Day,” a special offering for the 2020 season that will allow non-members to pay a day fee to visit the pool.

“We could not be more excited to open up our outdoor pool,” said Edward Bohren, CEO of Buckeye Valley Family YMCA. “We worked closely with the Licking County Health Department to ensure that the plans we have in place are following their guidelines. We are operating with the health and safety of our members, staff and our community as the top priority.”

Hours of operation will be: Monday – Friday, 2pm – 8pm; Saturday, 12pm – 6pm; Sunday, 1pm - 5pm.

To safely operate this summer, things will look a little different. Capacity will be limited to 250 individuals. Reservations are required for 2-hour swim periods (exception: Sunday is one 4-hour swim period) and can be made up to 24 hours in advance on the Buckeye Valley Family YMCA app or at No guests are allowed at this time, and visitors are asked to maintain at least six feet between others.

“It is an unusual summer, with cancellations and changes in response to the current pandemic. That is why we felt it was import for us to make Sunday be Community Day. On Sundays we will welcome members and non-members to enjoy the outdoor pool,” said Bohren. “We’d like to thank the City of Newark for providing support to help make Community Days possible.”

Non-members will be required to pay a Community Day Fee and make a reservation. Non-Member Community Day Fees are: $5 - Children (ages 3-17), $7 - Adults (ages 18-64), $15 - Family (2 Adults & up to 3 Children), $5 - Seniors (age 65+).
