When the summer months come around, children look forward to summer day camp. Buckeye Valley Family YMCA offers you access to day camps in Newark, Pataskala, and Zanesville, Ohio. When your children attend one of our camps they receive a truly fun and rewarding experience.
To help ensure your child is properly prepared for their summer day camp experience, here are a few important tips you should keep in mind:
1. Make sure to review the camp itinerary. Whether your child is attending a Traditional Day Camp, Specialty Camp, or participates as a Leader-In-Training Camp, it’s important to have an understanding of the activities they will be participating in. This enables you and your child to be prepared for the specific activities they will be experiencing while at camp.
2. Provide your child with the necessary clothing, equipment, and personal items. Depending on the type of camp they are attending, they may need to bring certain equipment such as a swimsuit, towels, and a backpack. It would also be beneficial to provide your child with sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat for when they are outdoors.
3. Make sure your necessary medical forms are up to date. Let our counselors know if your child’s medical information has changed since you registered for camp. Our staff is committed to ensuring that your child has a safe and healthy time during camp.
4. Ensure your child knows the rules and safety regulations. Before they attend camp, make sure to talk to your child about following rules while at camp and respecting the camp staff. It’s important to emphasize personal safety, especially when it comes to swimming or any activities that involve being outdoors.
5. If you would like your child to be able to purchase concessions, be sure to set up your child’s Snack Shack account. This eliminates the need to send cash with your child. More information and details about setting up your camper’s account can be found here.
