CPR classes near me

Have you ever thought about how you would react if someone close to you suffered cardiac arrest? According to the American Heart Association, CPR is a critical component to the AHA’s Chain of Survival. With the proper training, you could save a life!

Buckeye Valley Family YMCA offers comprehensive training in CPR and AED techniques, setting you up with the knowledge, skills and confidence to protect yourself and others in an emergency. Through our partnership with the American Safety & Health Institute, you can become certified in adult first aid and CPR/AED for adults, children, and infants. Students who complete the program will receive a nationally accepted certification.

Our class includes a comprehensive overview, skill practice, and an engaging learning experience. You will receive all learning materials ahead of time, allowing you to study at your own pace by watching videos. To ensure you’re totally prepared for class, here is an overview of what to expect:

BEFORE THE CLASS

  • To get started, you’ll watch videos covering the basics of when and how to use CPR/AED and first aid techniques. You will receive answers to your basic questions.
  • After reviewing all of the material, you’ll be familiar with the core components of CPR techniques and skills, such as risk factors, prevention, and safety regulations. You'll be ready to join other students in class to practice life-saving skills.

DURING THE CLASS

  • Class time is dedicated to hands-on skill-building, putting the techniques you learned previously into practice. Our simulation models provide a realistic environment, allowing you to practice life-saving skills.
  • During the class, our instructors will use audio-visual aids, classroom lectures, and role-playing exercises to reinforce what you have studied.
  • During “class time” we recommend wearing comfortable clothing since you will be moving around. Also, bring a notepad and pencil to take notes. If you had specific questions during the pre-class learning, this is the time to ask your instructor.
  • Relaxed and fun atmosphere: It’s important to us that you understand the serious nature of CPR, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable. Encourage a friend, family member, or co-worker to take the class with you.

We are committed to making sure that you receive the best possible training in CPR, equipping you with the skills and confidence you need to handle emergency situations. Our classes are comprehensive and engaging, setting you up for success no matter what happens down the line.
