We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices.
At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors. They're able to explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
Youth Needs Assessment
In 2022, the Buckeye Valley Family YMCA partnered school districts, libraries, local government, and business leaders to conduct a county-wide youth needs assessment. The assessment conducted discussion groups across all regions within Licking County, engaging more than 300 youth in conversations to collect their input on shaping programs and services to address their unmet needs.
Aquatics
Swimming is a fun and enjoyable activity for children and adults alike. It’s an easy way to stay physically active and improve strength, flexibility, and stamina. The Buckeye Valley Family YMCA is committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for everyone to swim and learn water safety practices.
Child Care
With so many demands on today’s families, parents need all the support they can get. That’s why child care at the Y is about more than looking after kids. It’s about nurturing their development, by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and building self-reliance through the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Day Camp
The Buckeye Valley Family YMCA offers children a host of opportunities for summers of fun. Our goal is to provide an environment where campers can grow physically, mentally and spiritually through challenging activities in both small and large group settings under the guidance of experienced YMCA staff.
Gymnastics
The Buckeye Valley Family YMCA offers a full gymnastics curriculum. Each level is designed to advance gymnasts in a safe, consistent and productive manner teaching safety awareness, body awareness, values and skill instruction.
Martial Arts
Martial Arts training stresses the development of spirit, mind and body through discipline, practice and hard work. Offered forms vary by branch location.
Youth In Government
Buckeye Valley Family YMCA offers the Youth in Government club for high school students. This club focuses on leadership, learning, and community service.
Youth Sports
All YMCA Youth Sports programs are based on the YMCA’s “Everybody Plays, Everybody Wins!” philosophy. No matter what your child’s age or ability, he or she will learn character values, sportsmanship, and valuable new skills as a member of YMCA Youth Sports. We use a child-appropriate curriculum, sensitive to the needs and abilities of each individual participant.
