The YMCA has long been America’s favorite swimming instructor. Whether just learning how to swim, improving strokes, swimming competitively or taking water exercise classes, members are in safe hands with our certified swimming instructors and lifeguards.
Lifeguarding
This course is designed to train and prepare individuals for the responsibilities of being a professional lifeguard. The American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course is a comprehensive program covering a wide range of skills and topics such as: accident prevention, guarding techniques, emergency action plans, rescue skills, first aid, legal responsibilities. Participants must be a minimum of 15 years old by the last day of the course to register.
Swim Lessons
Buckeye Valley Family YMCA swim lessons are taught in a caring manner where swimmers can learn about water safety, water rescue skills, water activities as well as self-confidence and self-esteem. Class size is determined by the participant’s age and safety factors to ensure that classes remain at a comfortable and fun level.
BVFY Shark Swim Team
The Buckeye Valley Family YMCA Sharks Swim Team is a year round YMCA swimming program offering high quality coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.
Water Aerobics
Group water exercise classes which enhance strength and flexibility, improve muscle tone and endurance while at the same time providing a great cardiovascular workout in the pool.
Triathlon
This program offers opportunities for both youth triathletes as well as adults. The youth program will focus on skill development in a team based atmosphere with the goal of competing at youth triathlons throughout the summer. Adult programming will be catered towards swim conditioning in group sessions. One on one personal sport specific coaching is also available for those interested in dedicated sessions.
