Our Impact On The Ohio Community

The Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose and each other through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As we look back at our latest impact report for 2022, we are proud to share some notes on how the Buckeye Valley Family YMCA provides service and value to the community, and how we have continued to fulfill our mission.

Youth Development:

At the Y, we believe in investing in our youth and providing them with opportunities for growth and development. This past year, our youth programs have flourished with 2,743 participants in gymnastics, 3,139 in sports, and 2,694 in aquatics. We hosted 972 baseball games at Don Edwards Park, providing youth the opportunity to learn teamwork and sharpen their skills. In addition, 1,447 youth attended our day camp and 463 participated in preschool or before and after school care. We are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for our youth, and we are thrilled to see the positive impact it has on their lives.

Healthy Living:

Our community recognizes the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle, and we are committed to supporting them on their journey. With 20,180 active members, 460,043 facility visits, and 7,677 group fitness classes offered, we have become a hub for health and wellness. Our group fitness classes have seen a total attendance of 90,044, and we are proud to offer a variety of classes to cater to different interests and fitness levels. We are thankful for our dedicated staff and volunteers who continuously provide our community with the resources they need to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Volunteers:

The Y would not be able to make such a significant impact without the support of our volunteers. In 2022, we received 27,173 hours of volunteer service, which is valued at $775,517. From coaching youth sports teams to helping with special events, our volunteers play a vital role in fulfilling our mission. We are also grateful for the leadership provided by our volunteer Board of Directors, who help guide us in making a positive difference in our community. Our staff members also dedicated 1,052 hours of their time volunteering in the community, which had a value of $30,024. We are proud to have a team that is committed to serving others and making a difference.

Social Responsibility:

At the core of our mission is the belief in social responsibility and giving back to our community. The Y’s Health Kids Network provided 600 backpacks of nutritious food to children in 23 schools across Licking and Muskingum counties every weekend. In addition, we provided $249,969 in financial assistance to 3,030 individuals in our community, making it possible for them to access our programs and services. We are honored to be able to support and serve our community in this way.

As we look back on the year 2022, we are proud of the impact we have had on our community. We continue to stay true to our cause and mission, and we are grateful for the support of our members, volunteers, and community partners. With your continued support, we strive to make an even bigger impact in the years to come. Thank you for being a part of our Y family.
